Its always nice being able to step away from the computer and still be creative. After embarking on a short screening printing course at CAE (highly recommended) we were given free reign to screen print onto what would fit under a screen in the last class. With this in mind I picked up a few cushions, reworked the dog image from a photo I had taken and silk screened away.

Looking back to Escape Design
After stepping into the time machine I came across the very first Sassen Design website from 2004 , know as Escape Design as the time. The hero images on each page are all Lomo images taken around Melbourne, no affordable consumer digital cameras back then .
The site came complete with plenty of tables and font tags and a guest book – does anyone use guestbook nowadays on website ??. The one thing that hasn’t changed is the use of large hero images. The new Sassen Design website features hero images on the homepage.
Perforated for pleasure and convenience
Perforated for pleasure and convenience. Sassen Design was excited to take delivery of the new business cards. The typographic inspiration for these cards came from vintage signage and courier bags made from recycled truck tarpaulins.
Each card is a standard size business card when separated and are printed on Expression Super Smooth 352gsm.
Making fonts with your fingers
New for this month is our new favorite iPad app… iFontMaker. This app allows you to draw and create a font using your finger and the touch screen. As the screen isn’t pressure sensitive it can be tricky getting the font exactly the way you want. However the tools and design of the app making creating a font very intuitive and fun.
Inspiration for this font has come from Melbourne’s graffiti covered laneways. The font is almost half way there and will be posted on the blog once its complete.
